Markings: The top of the rib is marked “SIMSON & Co. SUHL / WAFFENFABRIKEN.”, the top of each barrel is marked “FLUSS-STAHL KRUPP-ESSEN”, each barrel is marked just to the side of the flat with a German eagle and “Nitro” and forward of teh flat with German eagle, crown over “S” and a Simson triple-triangle maker’s mark. The flat is marked “Rebe 1462” on the left, “84” twice on the right and on each side with German eagle, crown over “W”, crown over “U” “16/1”, “16” in circle proof and inspection marks. The top of the forend iron is marked “22750”. Each lug of the water table is marked with Simson’s three-triangle mark, the left is marked “22750” and the right has a German eagle and crown over “U” mark. The receiver has light scroll engraving with fine matting on the top of the fences and lever.

Choke: The barrels are choked Full, both fixed.
Sights / Optics: There is a silver-colored bead mounted to the front of the rib and a wide, “V”-notch rear sight dovetailed to the rear of the rib. The top of the rib is concave and finely checkered to reduce glare.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two piece checkered walnut with splinter forend, capped pistol grip, cheekpiece, and ventilated brown rubber Mershon recoil pad. The belly is drilled for a sling stud which is not present, there is a sling swivel mounted to the bottom of the barrel rib forward of the forend. The forend has scattered light marks and handling wear. The buttstock has slightly more wear with some in the checkering. The finish is thinning near the butt. The checkering is well defined where not damaged. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 14 3/4” and 13 3/4″ from the fronts of the triggers to the back of the recoil pad, 13 1/2″ and 12 1/2″ to the back of the wood. The recoil pad has hardened with age and has scattered light wear and residue, in about Good condition. The stocks rate in about Very Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bores are mostly bright with some light erosion at the breech and muzzle ends. The right barrel has a shallow dent visible in the bore approximately 3″ from the muzzle on the top.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 70% of its metal finish. The barrels have several scattered light marks, a shallow dent on the top of the right barrel approximately 3″ from the muzzle, a pair of scratches on the outside of the left barrel just forward of the sling swivel and a scrape on the elft barrel between the rear sight and the breech. There is light finish loss along the outside of the right barrel and scattered light freckling in both barrels. The receiver has mostly gone to gray with the figuring of its case-hardening showing in protected areas such as the water table and behind the fences. The receiver has scattered light discoloration from oxidation and a few scattered light marks. The trigger guard has thinning at its edges and some light freckling. The screw heads are mostly sharp with some lightly tool marked with strong slots. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Good-plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The barrels lock up with no play to the receiver. The cocking indicators are small pins which project from each side of the receiver when that side’s striker is cocked.
