Wells Custom Gunmakers, LLC is a family owned business in the heart of the Endless Mountains region of Pennsylvania. Dave Wells, owner and gunsmith, is a former Kimber gunsmith. He was also lead gunsmith at Navy Arms Co., Sarco Inc. and Gander Mountain. After many years of working for the big retailers, Dave set out on his own in 2005 in a little shop in Clarks Summit, PA and moved to our current location in 2007 which allowed for more equipment and increased business.
The shop is conveniently located 5 minutes from Interstate 81 in northeastern Pennsylvania. We are a half hour north of Scranton, PA and 45 minutes south of Binghamton, NY and approximately and hour from northern New Jersey. We are happy to have projects shipped in from out of state and routinely do work for customers from all over the country.
We offer a full range of services: small repairs, custom builds and Class 3 work. Our builds include sniper rifles for the county police departments, hunting rifles for big game hunts and custom caliber collectibles. From clean and checks, to complete refinishing and restorations, Dave does it all. We offer bluing and parkerizing services in-house, ultra-sonic cleaning, sight installs, muzzle brake installations, re-chambers. These are just a few of the services that we do on a daily basis.
A few of our current projects include Browning 1919 semi-auto builds (we manufacture our own right hand side plates), Browning M2 .50 cal builds, and custom target competition rifles. The local American Legion posts also have us clean and service their honor guard rifles regularly to make sure they are in top condition.
While the majority of our work is custom builds and repairs, we are also a full retail shop. Our inventory on hand may be limited but we have access to a multitude of product lines and are happy to order whatever you may need. Whether it is a new rifle, pistol, optics or accessories, we can source it for you and save you money.
Whether you are looking to have a firearm repaired or have one custom built, we are the place for you. We look forward to working with you soon!
