On November 5th in a quiet community 30 miles east of San Antonio, a tragedy occurred. A lunatic entered a church on a Sunday morning and opened fire on the congregation. This left 26 people dead and 20 injured. I am sure there would have been more tragedy had a rather unassuming plumber who lived nearby not responded. Stephen Willeford responded with his AR-15 and managed to hit the shooter twice, hitting in the gaps in his body armor. The fact that an armed citizen stood up in the face of evil changed the outcome of that day. The shooter fled and was chased by Stephen and Johnny Lagendorff, ending in a crash with the shooter dead.
On November 6th, I contacted AeroPrecision and a few other friends of mine in the industry. We committed to building a beautiful rifle for Stephen. I hand’t even met or spoken with Stephen yet, I wouldn’t meet him or know anything about him until I met him to give him his rifle. Since then, I have made a new friend with a great family. I have met people in the media and we have even had the opportunity to teach people to shoot. It is quite an interesting day when a reporter with no gun knowledge is writing a story and she has never even handled a weapon. By the end of the day, she had learned basic shooting safety and handled both handguns and select fire rifles. There is nothing like seeing a new shooter’s face and enjoying that experience with them. I have come to know Stephen quite well since then and look forward to shooting and sharing life with him for a long time to come.
I would personally like to thank AeroPrecision USA, Aaron Michaud of A&J Sporting Goods and Athlon Optics, and John Mills of Patriot Firearms Coatings. Their contributions and support made this possible.
If you are in the market for a new rifle or upgrades to an existing rifle, contact me and I will be glad to take care of you.
